🎧 Why everyone hates their own recorded voice
When you speak, you hear your voice in two ways:
1. Through the air
→ what other people hear
→ travels through your ears normally
2. Through your skull bones
→ only YOU hear this
→ it adds warmth, depth, and bass
→ makes your voice sound softer and “nicer” inside your head
So your brain is used to a version of your voice that is:
✔ deeper
✔ warmer
✔ smoother
✔ less sharp
But the recording only captures #1: the air sound — the “thin” version.
So when you hear a recording, your brain goes:
“EH?! Why does that person sound like that!? This isn’t me!!!”
🤣🤣🤣
Totally normal. Even singers, actors, YouTubers, professors — EVERYONE goes through this before getting used to it.
❤️ Good news
The discomfort actually fades the more you record.
Your brain eventually “updates” its internal voice model.
But if you still never like it, that’s ok — it does not mean your voice is bad.
It just means it’s different from your internal version.
